YP Recruitment is a specialist engineering and technical recruitment agency. We recruit across six verticals: engineering, manufacturing, construction, property services, technical sales, and executive leadership. We started in Yorkshire's precision engineering sector and grew because clients and candidates kept asking us to do more, in more places.
What we do differently
Most recruitment agencies are generalist. They'll fill an engineering role on Monday, a marketing role on Tuesday, and a finance role on Wednesday. The consultant working your brief has surface-level knowledge of the sector and relies on keyword matching to find candidates.
We don't work that way. Every role we fill sits within engineering and technical disciplines. Every conversation we have is with someone who designs, builds, manufactures, installs, manages, or leads within those sectors. That focus means we know the difference between a mechanical design engineer who works in SolidWorks on consumer products and one who works in Creo on aerospace assemblies. Those are different people, different career paths, and different salary brackets.
How we got here
YP started as Yorkshire Precision Recruitment, focused on the precision engineering sector in West Yorkshire. The name reflected the geography and the specialism. As our reputation grew, clients outside Yorkshire started asking us to fill roles in the Midlands, the North West, Scotland. Candidates we placed moved around the country and came back to us when they were ready for their next role.
The Yorkshire identity stuck, not as a geographic boundary, but as an attitude. Direct. Honest. No padding. We tell clients when their salary is too low. We tell candidates when they're not right for a role. That saves everyone time, and it's why people come back.
